You are cordially invited to a dinner you cannot eat. Come feast your eyes on a smorgasbord of heavenly delights. Through exhibiting a banquet of inedible food, Let Them Eat Fake explores the culture of visual food consumption.

Whilst prioritising visual nourishment, how much importance is left on lining our stomachs? An addiction to eating only with our eyes is perpetuated through an infinite loop of online food pornography. Meals are digested through the white light of our screens, tantalising our senses but failing to nourish our bodies.

 Food reveals itself as a taboo, being both pleasurable and shameful at once - an object of virtue to be desired from afar, drifting further away from the dining table and straight into the white-walled gallery.

As part of Artists Against Genocide, Bad Art is organising an Art Auction Fundraiser for the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.

All funds raised from the fundraiser will go towards the Lebanese Red Cross, which is providing on the ground support, emergency medical aid, and healthcare services for people displaced due to the ongoing and escalating violence in Southern Lebanon.

As this fundraiser is a matter of urgency, we are asking artists to submit their donation proposals by Monday, the 14th of October. If artists are unable to meet this deadline, there will be a second auction to participate in, so we encourage to still send your work through for us to review.

If you wish to donate, please consider the following criteria.

Donation Criteria:

  • Ideally 2D format, small, non-fragile sculptures, work that is feasible to post

  • In saleable condition

  • The context of the work does not have to directly relate to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, however we ask you are mindful of submitting appropriate work, we understand this may not always be immediately obvious, so please get in touch with any questions.
